From the Desk of Ravishing Rad Chode
We finally got to Mississippi around 9pm. I was pretty delirious from the pseudo-sleep I got in the dump truck but still in good spirits. We only had one set left. It was my first time going to Horror Party Manor or st least the first time I recall. There was a green boogie van on the lawn with the words “$5 House Show” spray painted on the side. I saw a picture of it on the flyer earlier but I thought it was a stock photo or something. Well done, Shaun Blaine.
This was probably the first time I was actually happy to be in Mississippi. Usually I’m just passing through, occasionally remembering the medical bills I skipped out on in Pascagoula all those years ago. This time was different. This time we got to hang with some of our extended family. We missed the first band but they smoked with Squidry and me as soon as we walked up.
There had to be 20lbs of crawfish on the stove and it was making my mouth water. I sucked down a couple of the critters before deciding maybe it was not the best idea to gorge before heavy vocals. Instead I filled up with beer. Horror Party was awesome. I have seen them a few times and I swear they get better every time.
Being our final set of the tour Stripper Kyle and I decided to eat the gummies Marla gave us in TX right before we started. We ripped through the songs one more time. It was nice to finish up in such an intimate setting where I could look into everyone’s eyes. It was a really nice setup for a house show. Definitely holler at Shaun if you’re trying to DIY in Mississippi.
Preston showed up after we had already finished playing. He was brandishing cases of PBR and demanding someone shotgun beers with him. Naturally everyone else was bitch made so I had to take several for the team. He also managed to Ice Squidry in the chaos. We hung around for another hour or so. The family time was the perfect way to end our humble tour.
