Chode To Ruin Part one
The Road to Rulebreaker’s Tour was a success. We did not get arrested in Texas, Louisiana or Mississippi for that matter. Having finally rested after five days of van life and general mayhem I think my brain soup has congealed enough to recap what happened as I remember it.
Lafayette, Louisiana has a nicer downtown area than I expected. Pop’s Poboys was recommended to us by the bartenders and boy howdy did they deliver the meats. Third Street Hooligans are all mailmen. All of them. Boom Boom Room has a fuzzy wall. Larry Trombatore dropped in and hung out with us for a while.
East TX roads are absolutely shit. It feels like a shitty concrete bridge for long stretches, hours long. H-E-B is like a weird Texan Aldi or something. My wife calls it “Cowboy Publix.” Lonestar beer is good. Better than I remember and relatively cheap. Speaking of cheap Texas is hoarding oil so it’s like $2.60 a gallon or less at some places.
I have to get back to work. On the next installment, “Spring Texas is not Houston.”
